Obituary of Thomas Scheirer

Thomas Scheirer, of Alcoa, Tennessee, formerly of Solvay, NY, died unexpectedly on Monday, October 3, 2011, at the age of 64. Tom was born on February 20, 1947, in Syracuse, NY. He graduated from Solvay High School in 1966. He was a Marine veteran of the Vietnam War. Most recently, he worked for Jewelry Television in Tennessee and retired in 2009. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald "Duck" Scheirer, of Solvay, NY. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Scheirer, a resident at Van Duyn Home & Hospital; his father, Donald Scheirer of Seminole, FL; two sisters, Nancie Scheirer and her husband Rick Zimmerman of Boston, MA, and Christie Kurowski and her husband Joseph Kurowski of Glendale, AZ; and five children, Lisa Scheirer and Tom Scheirer, both of Solvay, Jeff Scheirer of Kingston, NY, Jamie Scheirer, who recently returned from service in Afghanistan, and Cassandra Hitchcock and her husband Peter Hitchcock Jr. of Gouverneur, NY. He also leaves behind five grandchildren, Austin Mowry, Jordan and Gianna Scheirer, and Hailey and Kevin Hitchcock, and numerous nieces and nephews.
