Marion Traver June 10, 2011 Marion Rood Traver passed from this life into the next Friday at her home in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Syracuse, NY, Marion was the eldest child of Edwin and Alice (Murphy) Rood of Mattydale. Predeceased by her parents; her sister, Phyllis Rood Abulencia; and her brother, Edwin, Jr. Marion was 77 years old. Marion married Charles Traver in 1953 at St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. Marion enjoyed her family, baking, reading and crossword puzzles. She trained at Crouse School of Nursing before she became a wife, mother and homemaker. Later, Marion worked at Key Bank in North Syracuse until her retirement. A devout Catholic, Marion was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse and served as President of the Altar Rosary Society. She had a special affection for St. Therèse of Lisieux. Marion follows into eternity her husband, Charles, who just passed on May 10. She is survived by their five children: daughters, Marilyn (Philip) Kafka of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathleen (Michael) Rose of North Syracuse, NY, and sons, Garrett (Kellie) of Rochester, NY, Gregory (Rory) of Los Angeles, CA, and Jeffery Traver of North Syracuse, NY; as well as 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two nieces and two nephews and their families. Services: 10 a.m. Friday a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society , 6725 Lyons St., PO Box 7, E. Syracuse, NY 13057.
