Charles E. Traver May 10, 2011 Charles "Chuck" Traver passed peacefully from this life into the next on May 10th at his home in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Syracuse, NY, Charles was the only child of Harold and Dorothy Sue (Baum) Traver of North Syracuse. He was 81 years old. A U.S. Army Korean War veteran, Charles married Marion Rood in 1935 at St. Margaret's Church in Mattydale. He was an outdoors-man who enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and in later years, gardening and driving. Chuck was a truck driver for Keebler, as well as a chef. A convert to Catholicism, he belonged to The Knights of Columbus Council 3717 and was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. Charles is survived by his wife, Marion Rood Traver and their five children; daughters Marilyn (Philip) Kafka of Phoenix, AZ and Kathleen (Michael) Rose of N. Syracuse, NY and sons, Garrett (Kellie) of Rochester, NY, Gregory (Rory) of Los Angeles, CA and Jeffery Traver of N. Syracuse, NY, as well as 11 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, two nieces, two nephews and their families. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday a Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington, DC 20077-7491 and the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049
