Obituary of Margaret Philomena Zollo Zaccanelli

Margaret Philomena Zollo Zaccanelli, 98, a longtime resident of the West End of Syracuse, passed away peacefully at her son's home in Dallas, TX. She was surrounded by her family and grandchildren. She was born November 23, 1912 in Syracuse, to Joseph and Caroline Balestra Zollo. She was one of twelve children. Margaret met and married Frank J. Zaccanelli Sr. who has predeceased her. They were married for 46 years. She worked for New York State as a crossing guard at St. Brigid's School for 15 years. Margaret was an integral part of the St. Brigid's Catholic community for most of her life. She will be remembered as a great cook and as a connoisseur of great wine who loved to travel. Survivors: her son, Frank J. (Yvonne) Zaccanelli Jr., of Dallas, TX; her grandchildren, Nicole Zaccanelli Golfieri, Frank J. Zaccanelli III, and Angelo Zaccanelli, all residing in Los Angeles, CA; also surviving are many nieces and nephews in the Syracuse area as well as many close friends. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Brigid and St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse.
