Obituary of Emily A. Bergen

Emily A. Bergen February 26, 2011 Emily Agnes Tindall Bergen, of Syracuse, died Saturday. She was the wife of LeRoy Joseph Bergen, Auburn, NY (1908-1979). Born August 2, 1912 daughter of Margaret Shay (O'Shea) born in Northwest Iowa (1881-1960) and Charles Robert Tindall (Tyndall) (1882-1943) born in Driffield, England and Sheriff of Onondaga County. Emily graduated from Solvay High School and Syracuse Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. After her marriage she moved with her husband, CEO of US Shoe Corp., and family to Chicago; Greenfield, Ohio; Ponce, Puerto Rico; and Skaneateles. She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Ann (Angelo) Cerchia, and son Timothy Charles (Jeanne) Bergen; her brothers John Charles, Francis Gerald, Arthur James, Charles Philip and sister, Elizabeth Josephine Kinsella. Emily and Roy had four children and she is survived by her son, William Patrick (Dessa) Bergen of Skaneateles; daughter, Theresa Mary (Lonny) Robledo, of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Mark Joseph Bergen, Dessa Kristen (John) Bergen-Cico, Robert (Jill) Cerchia, Kathy (Louie) Cerchia Nappa, William (Elizabeth) Cerchia, Danny Cerchia, Timothy (Kimberly) Bergen, Robert Bergen, and Julie Bergen; 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Emily's whole life was dedicated to her family, friends and faith. She loved family gatherings all of which were recorded in the many pictures she took. She had a fine mind, a quick sense of humor and loved to laugh. She is already greatly missed. Services: 10 am Friday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:30 am at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Fairmount. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 pm Thursday at the funeral home, 1921 West Genesee Street. Donations in the form of a prayer for Emily will be greatly appreciated.
