Obituary of Yvette R. Guilfoil

Yvette (Woulf) Guilfoil, 91, of Syracuse, NY, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024. Yvette was born in Tupper Lake, NY and settled in Syracuse after graduating from St. Joseph’s nursing school in 1953. She worked as a nurse for Hutchings Psychiatric Hospital for over 40 years.  Yvette loved being a member of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians, where she met some of her closest friends. Her favorite day every year was marching in the St. Patrick’s Day parade. Her strong Catholic faith was an essential part of her life as a communicant of both St. Ann’s and Most Holy Rosary.

Yvette is predeceased by her husband, William F. Guilfoil; sister, Irene Woulf; brother, Robert Woulf, and sister-in-law, Helen Woulf.

She is survived by sons, William (Mary) Guilfoil of Ballycotton, Ireland, John (Jennifer) Guilfoil of Concord, NC and Robert (Elizabeth) Guilfoil of Syracuse, NY; her four grandchildren, Jack, Bella, Kate, and Nora. Yvette is also survived by extended family in both Syracuse and Tupper Lake.

A calling hour will be 9:30am to 10:30am Thursday, February 1, at Most Holy Rosary Church and a Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 10:30am. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
