Obituary of Michael A. Jones Sr.

Michael A. Jones Sr., 67, of Cicero passed away peacefully Wednesday at St. Joseph's Hospital after a long illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. Born in Utica to William and Annamary Jones, he was a graduate of Utica Free Academy and Simmons Institute of Funeral Service. Mike was a retired funeral director and former owner of Sears Middleton Jones Funeral Home, in N. Syracuse, NY. For nearly 40 years his gentle, generous, and comforting spirit helped him serve his community and families during their most difficult times. Mike was a longtime volunteer for the North Area Meals on Wheels, serving as a member of the board of directors and as Board President from 1999 to 2002. He was a former member of the Lions Club of North Syracuse and the Onondaga Oswego County Funeral Directors Association. Mike was an avid car enthusiast and loved his 1955 and 2002 Ford Thunderbirds. He enjoyed travelling with his family and visits to the casino to play Spanish 21. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Elanor Calidonna, Sister M. Josetta, OSF; brother, William Jones, and his son, Michael A. Jones Jr. Survivors: daughters, Margaret (Matthew) Kilmer of Pittsford and Kathleen (David) Tindall of Camillus; sister, Susan Skelton of Clinton; aunt, Sally Phillips of Chadwicks; former wife, Patricia Jones of N. Syracuse; daughter in law, Nicole Jones Senftleben of Macedon; grandchildren, Audrey and William Jones, Marin, Linden, and Tatum Kilmer; Annabelle and Avery Tindall; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services: 10:00 am Monday at St. Rose Of Lima Church, 409 South Main St., N. Syracuse where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY. Calling hours will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Tindall Funeral Home., 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
