Obituary of Robert Spafford Sr.

Robert E. Spafford Sr., of Tipperary Hill, Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home. He was born in Syracuse, October 11, 1937 to Fred and Dora (Hotaling) Spafford. Robert was a US Airforce Veteran. He retired from Carrier Corp. after 33 years of dedicated service and continued to work as a musician drumming throughout his retirement.

Bob was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, Syracuse. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, American Legion Tipp Hill Post 1361 and VFW 3164. Bob loved time spent at his summer home on the Indian River Lakes. He enjoyed boating, woodworking, puzzles, and having a great time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

His sisters, Marion, Virginia, Everlyn, Margaret, Dorothy, and brother, Frederick all predeceased him.

Survivors: his loving wife, Maureen (Maroney) Spafford; his sons, Michael, Robert Jr. (Theresa); daughter, Colleen (David) Butler; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Services: 9:30 am Wednesday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 am at St. Patrick's Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY.
