Marilyn Tansey Blasi

Heaven Gained an Angel Today.

Marilyn passed away on August 14, 2026, with her family by her side. Born in Oxford, NY to Walter and Helen (Edmonds) Tansey. She relocated to Syracuse at an early age. Marilyn graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School in Syracuse and was employed by Gaylord Brothers, Inc as a receptionist. It was there she met the love of her life, her husband, Francis. Marilyn devoted herself to raising her family in addition to providing childcare for others. She later worked as a Pre-K Teacher’s Assistant at Most Holy Rosary School. Her passion was being with and caring for children; she was truly a mother to many.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Francis; sons Jeffrey and David; her daughters Carrie (Alan) Ellis and Jill (Heather) Blasi; her beloved grandchildren, Christine and Nick Ellis; her sisters Joan Tansey and Donna (Richard) Brown; as well as several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents Walter and Helen Tansey.

Calling hours will be 9:30am to 11am Monday, August 17 at Most Holy Rosary Church 111 Roberts Ave. Syracuse, NY 13207. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately at 11am.
