
Obituary of Catherine I. Jenkins
Catherine Irene Jenkins (86) of Camillus, NY passed away peacefully on April 29th, surrounded by her loving family. Cathy was predeceased by her beloved husband, David. Cathy worked for Literacy Volunteers of America and Pediatric Associates of Camillus, where she loved greeting multiple generations from West Genesee. Cathy was also heavily involved with the Holy Family Community where she the president of the Senior Group, Eucharistic Minister, counter, and a parishioner for 61 years. Cathy’s biggest delight was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren while traveling all over the continent for their sporting events, concerts, birthdays and ceremonies. Cathy was an avid supporter of West Genesee athletics and music department. As anyone who knew Cathy, knew she was an enthusiastic vocal cheerleader at all events, including in 1981 she and David received “Spectator of the Year” award from West Genesee Junior High School! She packed more life into her years than most, always first to say “Yes” to a new adventure.
Cathy is survived by her siblings, Deanna (Tom) Jenkins, Oliver DeCarr, and Patricia (David) Hicks. She is also survived by her amazing children (her words): Mark (Lori) Jenkins, Marie Jenkins-Ryan, and Lisa (Jay) Tracy. Cathy had seven grandchildren, Chris (Elizabeth) Jenkins, Mike (Maddesen) Jenkins, Jake (Kaile) Natali, Evan Tracy, Ty Natali, Steven Jenkins-Ryan, and Joseph Jenkins-Ryan. She also had 3 great grandchildren, Archie, Calvin, Avery Jenkins (and new great grandson due in July) including several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Crouse ICU and Crouse 4 Memorial for their extraordinary care and compassion during her short illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Wednesday, May 6 at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive Syracuse, NY 13219. A calling hour will be from 9 to 10am Wednesday prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.
