Obituary of Joan B. Cole

Joan B. Cole, 98, passed away on Friday, February 27th. Born in Syracuse, she was a graduate of Solvay High School. She married her high school sweetheart in 1948 and settled in Westvale. 

She worked for the A&P Grocery Store for several years and then, after raising children, became Deputy Town Clerk for the Town of Geddes, working with her husband until they retired in 1981. She and husband Don traveled many places in their motor home and enjoyed many winters in Florida. She was a very active member of the Robinson Memorial Church, the Westvale Home Bureau and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was extremely creative and continued crafting into her 90’s.

Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were spoiled with her attention, cooking and creative talents. She loved her family above all else.

Survivors: Daughter, Cindy Clift; sons, Richard (Cheryl) Cole and William (Cheryl) Cole; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Services: 12pm (noon) Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Robinson Elmwood Presbyterian Church, 126 S. Terry Road in Syracuse. Burial will follow at the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hour at the church will begin at 11:15am before the service.
