Obituary of Michael Robert Spafford
Michael passed away on Tuesday, February 4, just four months shy of his 65th birthday. Michael cherished time spent with family and friends and had a deep love for good food—especially when he was the one creating it. His legendary, secret chili recipe was a point of pride and a favorite among those lucky enough to taste it. Music was a lifelong passion. Michael loved playing gigs and performing bass guitar with many Syracuse-area bands. Some of his favorite moments were spent jamming alongside his brother Bob and close friends.
He is survived by his loving companion, Debra Champouillon; his children, Eric, Kayla, and Schuyler; and his beloved fur babies, Riley McGee and Boh Boh. Michael will also be deeply missed by his mother, Maureen Spafford; his sister, Colleen Butler; his brother, Robert Spafford Jr.; his sister-in-law, Theresa; and his many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Chistian Burial will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Patrick and St. Brigid’s Church, 216 N Lowell Avenue on Tipp Hill.
