With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jose Leonardo Mendoza Marin, who departed this life on the evening of October 5th in Syracuse, NY, at the age of 53.

Jose was born on November 6, 1971, in San Pedro Escanela, Querétaro, Mexico, and later made his home in Syracuse, where he lived most of his life. A hardworking and dedicated landscaper, Jose poured his time and talent into countless projects across Upstate New York, leaving behind not only beautiful landscapes but a lasting impact on everyone he worked with.

Beyond his work, Jose was a man deeply devoted to his family and culture. He loved cooking, sharing meals, telling stories, and teaching others about the traditions and values he held dear. His warmth, kindness, and pride in his heritage touched all who knew him.

Jose was also one of the funniest people we knew. He lit up the room and could talk to anyone—his sense of humor and easygoing nature made everyone feel welcome and seen.

Jose was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. His deep care for those around him was evident in everything he did, and his presence brought strength and comfort to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margarita Mendoza, and his children: Lidia Mendoza, Roxana Mendoza, Britney Mendoza, Romina Mendoza, and his nephew, Juan Mendoza.

Jose's warmth, hard work, love for his family, and unforgettable humor will never be forgotten.

Calling Hours will be 12:30pm to 2pm Friday, October 10 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY 13204.

A  Funeral Service will follow from 2pm to 3pm at the funeral home.

Following the service, a Celebration of Life will be held at the Howlett Hill Fire Department at 3:30 PM.
