Obituary of Thomas Moser

Thomas H. Moser, 83, of New Hartford, NY, died peacefully on August 27, 2025 at his home at Gan Kavod Residences. Born on March 6, 1942, in Richmond, VA, his family later moved to Syracuse, NY where he lived the majority of his life. “Tommy” loved to give birthday and holiday gifts and to make people laugh. His kindness and sense of humor will be truly missed.

Tommy graduated from Percy Hughes in Syracuse in 1963, and he worked at Onondaga Optical for over 20 years. He enjoyed collecting movie memorabilia, and was nicknamed "Tinman" for his great love of The Wizard of Oz. He liked singing along with his 1920s album collection, and playing piano rolls with his old-fashioned foot-pump player piano. He was very fond of doing his scratch-off tickets, and loved to go fishing and eat seafood.

Tommy was predeceased by his parents, Helen and Frank Moser and his brother, Frank Moser, Jr.

He is survived by his longtime best friend, Virginia Scoccherra; sister-in-law, Yvonne Moser; niece, Holly Moser and fiance Jodie Petty; nephew, John Moser (Sherry Moser); grand-nephew, William Moser, and grand-niece, Abigail Moser.

Calling hours will be 3:30 to 5pm Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY 13204. Burial will be 11am Monday, September 8 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
