“Soupy” as he was affectionately known was a mentor and an inspiration when I was at Marine Midland in Syracuse in the early 1970’s. He championed women when many others did not. He advocated for us to be in management when no women were.
My sincere condolences to his family. May memories of happy times you shared somehow bring you comfort.

Mike, Andy, Tom and Families,
Sewell was so much fun as a neighborhood Dad on Avery Ave. During summers, we often saw him in his baseball uniform – coming from or going to his games. He always found the time to stop and talk. Knowledgeable, kind and supportive to all the kids in the neighborhood. Sewell had a remarkable memory. So much so that he remembered what was important to us and he’d ask about it the next time we’d talk. He was genuinely interested in us.
Both Sewell and your Mom, Eleanor, were a pleasure to be around.
Fun times. Treasured friendships. Fond memories.

I worked with Sewell at Marine Midland bank right out of high school 50 years ago I remember Sewelll as being the most kind, caring and compassionate man and I thought of him from time to time over the years. He helped me so much and I will never forget his kindness. May he rest in peace.

I worked with Soupy in the early 70's at Marine Midland. Also play softball with him on the Marine Midland team in the Syracuse Bank League. A great person to work and play ball with. My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.
