Obituary of William Robert Haines

William R. Haines "Manhattan Billy", 81, of Syracuse passed away June 1, 2025 following a long illness at St. Camillus. Billy was born in New York City and graduated from Weehawken High School. He fought in the Golden Gloves in Madison Square Garden, attended Monmouth University and served in the military. Manhattan was a bar owner and bartender in NYC and Syracuse throughout his career. He was an avid sports fan and known for his story telling and making people laugh.

Billy was predeceased by his parents, William and Eva Regina Haines, son, Robert Haines, and sister, Regina Haines.

Survivors: his wife, Jeanine Friedli Haines, in-laws, Beth and John Akkoul, niece, Chelsea Akkoul, and nephew, Josh Akkoul.

The family would like to thank the St. Camillus Family for the magnificent care they provided during his life with them.

Services will be private for the family at Billy's request.
