He was a cops cop. He was "the" community police officer. His contribution to this community and city is underrated, not because he was disenfranchised. But, because he never wanted recognition. He simply wanted to make the world a better place. We lost something we all took for granted and we all are paying the price. Remember, he was the example and to be setting it is a privilege. Forever be missed. Love you.

On behalf of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Comfort Tyler Chapter (Syracuse), we send our condolences to the family.
Forget Me Not
Don’t remember me not with sadness,
Don’t remember me with tears,
Remember all the laughter,
We’ve shared throughout the years,
Now I am contented,
That my life it was worthwhile.
Knowing that I passed along the way,
I made somebody smile,
When you are walking down the street,
And you’ve got me on your mind,
I’m walking in your footsteps,
Only half a step behind,
So please don’t be unhappy,
Just because I’m out of sight,
Remember that I’m with you,
Each morning, noon, and night.

I knew Jim when he worked security at Price Chopper. What a surprise when my brother bought a house and Jim was his neighbour just across the street!!! A kind thoughtful friend who cooked and left meals for my brother during his struggle with cancer. The last real meal he ever ate was made by Jim.
Hugs to Adrian and all his loved ones.

To the Lane family,
I’m very sorry for your loss. I worked with Jim on 3rd platoon when I first started on patrol. He was in 451 car and I (being new) bounced between territories on the Northside. He was a good man to take calls with. I always enjoyed his sense of humor.

I've known Jim and Adrian for 20 years. I'll never forget one February years ago, when we had a TON of snow, I got stuck and he went and got a (don't tell) truck from the SPD and pulled me out. He was always doing things like that. The man was a great cook. I think the last thing I ate that he made was chicken riggies. He definitely was a great friend and neighbor. R.I.P Jim.

Sending my condolences to all his family and friends. I've known Jim for over 28 years and he will be missed by so many. He was the type that would always be there for you no matter the time of day or night. Jim was more like family then a friend, he watched my kids grow up and stayed in contact with us over the years. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten, thank you for always being there for my family and I. Love you. R.I.P.
