Mary Kathryn Milligan, 88, of Syracuse, NY, passed away March 7, 2026. Mary was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing and devoted many years to a career in health care. She served as a pediatric nurse and later Head Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center, taught at the Syracuse School of Practical Nursing, and worked with Dr. Gaetano Visco. She later joined Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Central New York, where she held several roles including Senior Medical Policy Coordinator.
Mary was also active in several ministries at Holy Family Church, where her faith and lifelong commitment to caring for others continued through service to her parish community.
She was known for her love of family gatherings and celebrations, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by her loving husband, John Milligan; her daughter, Julie Christmas and husband Dan; her son, John Willcox and wife Kelly; and her cherished grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Katie, and Keelyn.
Mary will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her compassionate care for others, and the kindness and generosity she shared throughout her life.
Calling Hours will be 5 to 8pm Wednesday, March 11 at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. Syracuse.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Thursday, March 12 at Holy Family Church, 127 Chapel Drive, Syracuse. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
