Posts to the tribute of William E. Markovitz

To the Markovitz Family, I was a student of Mr. Markovitz at Corcoran in 1978. As a young African American kid from the south side, I must say he was one of the most influential people in my life. I lacked focus in high-school, but he made accounting fun and interesting. Because of him, I was bitten by the accounting bug and it started me on my life long journey in finance & accounting. I joined the Army in the Finance & Accounting Corps after high-school. I held many different positions in the Finance Corps culminating in my retirement after 25 years service as the Resource Management (Budget) Sergeant Major of the XVIII Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg NC. After retirement from the military, I have served in several defense and intelligence agencies in the finance & accounting and budget areas. Along the way, I obtained a bachelor degree, a Masters of Business Administration, and a Masters of Public Administration; and I can honestly say that Mr. Markovitz was the spark that lit the flame on my pursuit of continued education and professional success. May he rest in peace. They say that in life you never know who you may reach; as a wonderful accounting teacher, he reached me. A grateful student. Bill was a very intelligent and nice man. I enjoyed our conversations. My condolences to the family.

Mr. Markovitz was a fantastic teacher, I enjoyed his classes at Corcoran High School. He was a wonderful man. My prayers are with you and your family.

Mrs Markovitz and the Markovitz family, So sorry to read about Mr Markovitz’s passing. He was my Accounting teacher at OCC and was so encouraging and supportive. He convinced me to make Accounting my career and thankfully I followed his sage advice. God bless and RIP Mr Markovitz.
