Obituary of Jeanne Tindall Smith

Patricia Jeanne Tindall Smith, 79, formerly of Syracuse passed away Thursday in Maui, Hawaii. Born in Syracuse, Jeanne was a graduate of the Convent School and St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis taking her final vows August 18, 1956 as Sister Mary Hilary. As a Sister she ministered at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, St. Elizabeth's in Utica, Mercy Hospital in Auburn, St. Francis in Honolulu, HI and on Molokai, HI. While in Hawaii, Jeanne would meet and later marry her husband J. Aimoku Smith and continue as a nurse in a private medical clinic on the Island of Maui until her retirement. Aimoku predeceased her in 2003. Jeanne was also predeceased by her sister, Carol Tindall, brothers, John Tindall Jr. and Kevin Tindall. Survivors: her brothers, Robert (Santa) Tindall of Solvay and Francis (Carla) Tindall of Syracuse; aunt, Emily Tindall Bergen; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Borromeo Church. A calling hour will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the church, 417 S. Orchard Rd. Further services and burial will be held later this week in Maui, Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Charles Food Pantry, 417 S. Orchard Rd. Syracuse, NY 13219
