James J. Spinoso, 92, of Warners, passed away peacefully with family by his side Wednesday, December 7, at the VA Medical Center. Born in Syracuse, he was the son of Carmillo and Carmella Spinoso. Jim was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving in the Philippine Islands. He retired from Allied Chemical in 1986 after 37 years of service. He was a carpenter by trade and built beautiful cabinets and vanities as well as his own home in the early 70's. He loved to be outdoors spending summers gardening, tending his yard with various fruit trees, a large vegetable garden, and flowers. Jim loved nature and watching the various small animals and birds who belonged to God's beautiful green earth. In earlier times, he liked to hunt, enjoyed bowling, and spent time golfing after his retirement. He also enjoyed some cooking and of course many Sundays putting on a big pot of sauce for dinner. Jim enjoyed an occasional trip to the casino to play the slots. He enjoyed his family with him and especially the holidays. Jim was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters. Survivors: his wife, Catherine (Conroy) Spinoso; sister in law, Doris Spinoso; son, James Spinoso Jr; daughters, Patricia Brophy, Kathleen Spinoso, Mary (Marty) Graham; 2 grandsons, 3 granddaughters, 6 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Services: 9:30 am Tuesday at Tindall Funeral Home and 10:00 am at St. Brigid-St. Joseph Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Brigid Food Pantry, 318 Herkimer St., Syracuse, NY 13204.
