Obituary of Arthur M. Chace

Arthur M. Chace, age 91, formerly of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2016 in his home in Frankford, DE surrounded by his family. Arthur was born September 14, 1924 in Swansea, MA. Arthur was an alumnus of Bridgewater State University (State Teacher's College when he graduated). His career in education spanned 30 years as teacher and principal, and for the majority of his career he was superintendent of schools for the Granby, MA school system. He was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and as a B24 nose gunner flew 27 missions over Europe. He was the president of two dance clubs and loved to take a turn on the floor doing the waltz or the fox trot with his wife, Dottie. He enjoyed listening to music, watching old Turner Classic movies, cross country skiing, camping, kayaking, relaxing on the front porch at home, and spending time with family. He loved to laugh and his zest for life was contagious. Arthur was predeceased by his son, Donald Chace (wife, Ellyn Chace); and his stepson, Geneo Holland (wife, Kathy Holland). Survivors: his wife, Dorothea Chace; son, Alan (wife, Pat) Chace of Camp Hill, PA; daughter, Rebecca Chace of Florence, MA; his stepdaughters, Donna Lee (husband, Andy) Cress of Frankford, DE, Lori (husband, Dominic) Seraphin of Towson, MD, Julie (husband, Tim) Natoli of Williamsburg, VA; his stepsons, Steven (wife, Elizabeth) Holland of Clearwater, FL, and Rick Holland of Clearwater, FL; his 20 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. Services: 9:00 a.m. Saturday June 18, at Faith Chapel, 4113 W Seneca Turnpike, Syracuse, NY. Burial with military honors will follow in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
