Elizabeth "Betty" Flaherty Elia, 84, of Liverpool, NY, joined her family in heaven on November 20, 2015. Elizabeth was born eighth of twelve children to Thomas and Francis (Bailey) Flaherty, in Syracuse, NY, on December 1, 1930. She attended Solvay High School and was a retired real estate broker for New Horizon Real Estate. Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, but mostly loved spending time with her family. Elizabeth is predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Francis (Bailey) Flaherty; her son, John Elia; her sisters, Mary Seelig and Francis Lingle; and her brothers, Raymond, Thomas, William, James, and Edward Flaherty. Survivors: Left to cherish Elizabeth's memory are her daughter, Mary (Dennis) Elia of NC; her sons, Jerry (Lynn) of Geneva, NY, Michael (Peggy) of Rome, NY, and William (Christine) Elia of Canastota, NY; her sister, Joan Kish of Prescott, AZ; and her brothers Michael of North Syracuse, NY, Richard (Jane) of Camillus, NY, and Robert (Willie) Flaherty of Las Vegas, NY; 11 Grandchildren; 25 Great-Grandchildren; 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph The Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Tindall Funeral Home 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse, NY. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Lung Association Of NY, 155 Washington Ave. Suite 210, Albany, NY 12210.
