Heaven and earth gained a new Saint. Janet Hamilton of Syracuse, originally from Scotland died peacefully on May 20 surrounded by her loving family. Janet passed away with grace, just as she lived with grace. She was retired from the Syracuse City school district. She was a member and volunteer of Holy Family Church in Camillus. She was an avid runner and won medals in her age group. Janet was funny, witty and wise. She was predeceased by her husband of 25 years, James Hamilton, Sr., son Stephen and daughters Marion and Christine. She is survived by her son, James Hamilton Jr., and daughters Margaret Leonard (son in law Joseph Leonard), Anne Frances Hamilton and Elizabeth Gibson and several grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she "loved more". Janet is also survived by several brothers and sisters including her loving sister/best friend Marion "Minnie" McDonald and several nieces and nephews (Driscoll's). Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St, Syracuse. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt.
