George E. Marris, 93, passed away on March 24 at Van Duyn. He was born in 1920 on his family's farm near Cazenovia, NY, the eldest son of eleven siblings. He and his brothers and sisters attended the one room schoolhouse down the road and graduated from Cazenovia High School. He served in the US Navy during WWII aboard the USS Knox as a signalman first class. As a NY Telephone employee after the war, George worked as a lineman, test board operator, commercial installer and troubleshooter and retired in 1983. He and his beloved wife, Georgia, traveled throughout the US, camping and visiting with friends and family. He always found time for a large garden at home and he and Georgia enjoyed many years of sailing on Cayuga Lake. He is predeceased by Georgia who died in 2011. Survivors: his two sons, Thomas and Edward; by several brothers and sisters; his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday the funeral home, 1921 W Genesee St, prior to the service.
