Obituary of Charles J. Weaver

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bucky passed away Wednesday, February 26th, at home just days shy of his 92nd birthday. He was born and raised in Auburn, NY and was the youngest of the 6 children of William and Cecil Weaver. Bucky served his country with the Navy during WW II in the European and Pacific Theaters. From 1954 – present he resided with his family in Fairmount. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 60, Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 267, and had been employed by Burns Brothers of Syracuse. Bucky worked hard and played hard. In his younger years he played baseball, basketball, and football. His lifelong passion was playing golf. Both his grandsons inherited his talent and one of them (Mike) earned his PGA accreditation. In retirement, Bucky continued to play, shared his knowledge of the game to others, and worked as needed at Westvale (a long time member) and Drumlins Country Clubs. He was also known to bring his cue stick (another passion) to many of the billiard halls in the area – especially Premium Billiards in Fairmount. Bucky never missed an opportunity to cheer for his Yankees and for SU. He was an avid sports fan. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 65 years, Lorraine Gorham Weaver, and his granddaughter, Melissa Dilg. Surviving his loss are his daughters, Deborah (Jack Sullivan) Dilg and Pamela (Sam) Martino; his grandchildren, James Martino, Michael Martino, and Elizabeth (John Graham) Martino; a great-granddaughter, Jayden Martino; and his many "mates". The family would like to acknowledge the superb healthcare Bucky has received through the years at the Veteran's Medical Center. Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Church, Fairmount, where Bucky was a faithful communicant. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W Genesee St. A spring burial is planned at Maple Grove Cemetery in Jordan.
