Rita Timms Winkworth February 23, 2010 Rita Timms Winkworth, 88, of Solvay passed away on Tuesday peacefully with her family by her side. She was the widow of Edwin B. Winkworth Sr., president of Solvay Bank at the time of his death in 1964. She was a native of Boston, MA, attended Framingham College, and was a graduate of Mass General Hospital School of Nursing. Rita was a member of the Corinthian Club and the Piercefield Womens Club. She taught religious education for many years at St. Cecilia's School. Rita volunteered her time for the Right To Life Foundation and for many years attended the Right To Life march in downtown Syracuse. Survivors: three sons, John Timms Winkworth of Delaware, Joseph Bridley Winkworth of Solvay, Philip Augustine Winkworth of Syracuse. She is also survived by her daughter in law, Sandra Winkworth of Syracuse, a granddaughter Maria Winkworth, her two step children, Edwin Jr. and Gladys, a sister, Rosaleen Hall of Centerville, OH, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Ellen Chase of New Jersey, Alice Seitz of Framingham, MA and one brother, Rev. John Timms, O.S.A. of Massachusetts. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Cecilia's Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund, 120 Wall St, 19th Floor, New York, NY 10005 or the NYS Right to Life, 41 State St. Suite M100, Albany, NY 12207
