David P. Barreca

David Barreca, 87, of Solvay passed away Saturday at Francis House after succumbing to cancer. Born and raised in Solvay, David graduated from Solvay High School in 1943. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and recipient of the Purple Heart. After his time in the service, David attended business school at CCBI. He went on to work at and become co-owner of the family business, The Green Front Market. He retired in 1992 and enjoyed golfing and playing cards and friends and family.

Survivors: his brothers, Bob and John; his sister, Theresa (Peter) Salvagni; numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Mary, and siblings, Thomas and Joseph, and Mary Ann Tarolli.

Services: 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Cecilia's Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Solvay where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, DeWitt with military honors. Calling hours 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the Tindall Funeral Home 1921 W. Genesee St.
