Biography

Douglas L. Fidler

Douglas L. Fidler of Westvale passed away of natural causes at St. Joseph's Hospital on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 at the age of 92. He was born May 3, 1919 in Syracuse, NY. Doug graduated from Syracuse University after serving 5 years in the USAC during WW II. He was a Major and a pilot. He was awarded a Silver Star and other medals. He also played football at SU before enlisting in the USAC. He retired at the age of 83 after a transportation/managerial career at K.E. Fidler, Conagra, Golden Arrow Bus Lines and other companies. He was a member of Robinson Memorial Presbyterian Church, Pastimes Club, and a charter member of the Cavalry Club. He was predeceased by his wife Doris E. Fidler in 2009.

His survivors are Dexter Fidler, Linda Foltin, and Rowena Fidler; 5 grandchildren, William, Ryan, Christopher, Jared, and Gwendolin; 3 great grandchildren, Mare, Avery, and MacKenzie and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Tindall Funeral Home. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Calling hours 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 1921 W. Genesee St., prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital, 301 Prospect Ave., Syracuse, NY 13203.
