Smith, 80, of Syracuse passed away Wednesday after a short illness. Born in Syracuse, he was a USMC veteran of the Korean War. He was a driver for Acme Markets for over 20 years. Dick was then employed by Signal Transport until his retirement in 1989. He was also a volunteer driver for the American Red Cross. He was an avid golfer and member of the Teamsters Local 317. Dick was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Smith in 1994, sisters, Margaret Swanson, Arlene Collins, and Shirley Schmunk. Survivors: his wife, Joan Forth Smith; daughters, Mary Ellen (Raymond) French, Therese (Anthony) Ori, Catherine Smith, Majella (Joseph) Patella, son, Thomas (Kathryn) Smith; brothers, John Smith, and Robert Smith; 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St. Burial will be for family in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Marcellus.
